The past couple of weeks... i have been finding old friends from my primary school days on facebook. For those of you that went to corona or any of those aje-butter schools that might not be a big deal to you...lol but for me it is. You see the school i went to was a relatively small, private catholic school. We were known for our participating in debate competitions and all those NTA quiz shows for primary schools. Today one of my former teachers from school emailed me saying The school was celebrating its 30th anniversary and needed old students like me to send in my memories of my school years.
So i began to write and i realised that i truly miss those years...
When everything was simple and all you had to worry about was getting home from school in time to watch TV (you know all the correct tv shows came on after 4pm like rentaghost, frank spencer, allo allo, superted, prince and the pauper and who can forget tales by moonlight on sundays!).
When school was easy and the hardest test you would ever take was the Common Entrance Exam....wasn't it weird that different states had different cutoff marks...my state had one of the highest so if you scored lower than your state...you were like one olodo..lol
when everything was innocent and you could walk down the street with a boy or girl holding hands and no one would think anything of it.
playing ten-ten and "my mother told me...that she would buy me another dolly"...and tinko tinko till your hands and legs ached.
Eating chocomilo and okin biscuit like there was no tomorrow..
beefing your friends who had the latest clarks sandals....lol
i remember we used to go to LTV (Lagos television) studios every year for their christmas party for primary schools and perform....and we'll be feeling cool because we were on television.
I remember we went to this debate/quiz competition with over 20 primary schools in lagos and my school came 4th...and when the reporter from Guardian Newspapers asked me how i felt..i was like "i dont really care that we lost...im just happy we beat Corona"..haha i used to beef that school mehn lol
my bad belle did not have part 2 :)
Those were the days of escorting your friends...they would come and visit you then you would escort them home...then they will escort you back and so on....until Clifford Oji starting eating people and fear didn't allow us to leave our house anymore...lol
I remember June 12 1993 and all the tear gas around our school as people were rioting after MKO Abiola's foiled election results.
I remember getting ready to graduate from primary school and being sad because i knew i actually had to study in school now...lol
Though Secondary School wasn't so bad, my school was too bunz actually except we used to beef QC girls and KC boys madly...and with good reason too...and for some reason KC boys were always trying to fight our boys...jealous things lol
Those were the good days..when i was innocent (at least in primary school i started spoiling in secondary school lol) and everything was simple back then...but i have to face the reality that i am an adult now...but i keep wondering when did that happen?...and how do i make it stop....
"sad face"

Nothing wrong with taking a trip down memory lane. In fact, I love doing so, myself.
We both wonder when did it happen and wish we could make it stop.
